Happiness is...

  • Getting a shirt and a dress for $12, total  (though the techno music in the store drove me nuts)
  • Lasagna for lunch, sitting in a cafe next to an open wall (as in, no windows, no doors, no brick, no concrete - just a gaping hole in the cafe that lets you put your feet out on the sidewalk as you sit inside the building)
  • Swiss Chalet gift cards from Shoppers Drug Mart and friends who are willing to use them up for you for dinner
  • Finding Jon Stewart & Stephen Colbert's Rolling Stone issue for $2 (no tax!)
  • Buying a copy of the latest GQ (UK version), featuring James McAvoy, Simon Pegg and Stephen Merchant (best issue ever, eh?)
  • Walking into the world's biggest bookstore and hearing the soundtrack to my lovely Once
    • I'm sure Michelle thinks I'm crazy now.  You can hear the music from inside the store, outside of it as well - and as soon as I heard If You Want Me, I jumped (a little!) and screamed (a little!) in excitement right there in the middle of the street
  • Converting friends into Glen/Frames fans
    • Amy's a Frames fan now!  She just spent all night listening to the 3 albums I sent her, and that's big for Amy who doesn't usually have non-classical music on in the background.  I'll have to send her more soon.
    • Also, Michelle's joining us for The Swell Season show.  So, I bought her and Johanna's tickets today.  I think between me, my friends, and Addey and Esther and their friends, we'll have the entire front row filled up ;)
  • Having friends that, clearly, rock and are actually receptive to your incessant and non-stop blathering about all things Damien and Glen related.
  • Signing an affidavit!   (shush you, it's exciting to me)
  • Having everyone at the clinic warn you that a certain client is rude and troublesome, then getting her to open up to you herself.  I don't know if we can really help her though... it's a pretty complicated situation :(
  • The most awesome chocolate chip cookies ever - the cookie-store at The Eatons Centre, bottom floor, opposite the Hallmark
  • Working, and thus, being able to splurge on a pretty purple sweater from Jacob Connexion without guilt - I'll head down to The Gap this weekend to buy a black dress that's on sale (will be charging this one to my mommy though)
  • Finding a t-shirt store that sells "That's what she said!" t-shirts!  Michelle and I are getting them next Friday.  Only $25 no less, and printed on American Apparel tees.  So excited!

As you can tell, I had a pretty amazing day.  Definitely not stress-free, but very pleasant... very not-quite-teenage-appropriate, but not-quite-adult.  Which is a phase I need to take more advantage of.

Friends page, I'll catch up on you tomorrow but it's 3am and I'm looking forward to finally getting a good 12 hours or so of uninterrupted sleep.

1. I love a good bargain, so I'd be so excited to get a shirt and a dress for $12. I also love telling people about a good bargain lol.

2. I get so excited when I'm in a store or whatever and they're playing music I love. I would've been so excited had I heard "If You Want Me" in a store.

3.I also love when I turn someone onto one of my favorite musical artists. I turned my friend Karen onto The Decemberists and Sufjan Stevens, and I was so happy that she's a fan of their's now. Of course, she did turn me onto DCFC and Sarah Slean and Tegan and Sara.

1) Well I'm glad someone else can appreciate it :)

2) Honestly! I could not stop smiling the entire time we were in there!

3) This is seriously the best way to discover new music. I remember Glen saying in an interview once that he never has any copies of his favorite albums because he's always lending them out to friends, who fall in love and hold onto them.

I don't know if I'm actually making a proper effort to convert people here, but my non stop talking about The Office and Damien Rice and The Frames has converted at least a few, so I'll stick with it :)
